Building & Construction Guidelines

Notice to Property Owners, Builders and Architects

Notice to Property Owners, Builders and Architects

Notice to Property Owners, Builders and Architects

Building and construction within the Masons Island Fire District (MIFD)

must conform to the zoning, permitting and building guidelines of the

Town of Stonington

Also, because Masons Island roads are privately owned,  and things like stormwater treatment and excavation can directly impact these roads

plans and documents need to be reviewed by the

MIFD/MIPOA facilities committee

.

Click Here  for for a sample checklist of items

to be reviewed with the Facilities Committee.

Driveways, Aprons and Excavation

Notice to Property Owners, Builders and Architects

Driveway, apron and excavation work directly impact MIPOA roads so there are technical standards, permits and ordinances related to these activities.  Please visit the MIFD website for more information on these activities.

Landscaping Projects

MIPOA property includes significant land abutting roadways.  Landscaping in or around the MIPOA right of way should be reviewed so any work will minimize potential impact on roads.  The Facilities Committee can review plans with you or your landscape architect to avoid potential issues.

To streamline your building process, it is strongly recommended that property owners, builders and architects connect with the Facilities Committee early in the construction process.  You can reach out to set up a meeting by emailing roads_facilities@MIPOA.info
