The Mason Island Fire District (MIFD) is a special taxing authority within the Town of Stonington responsible for maintaining the roadways and providing public safety/fire protection services for the Mason Island Property Owners Association (MIPOA) and Enders Island. The district currently engages the Mystic Fire Department to provide fire protection services and relies on the Town of Stonington’s Police Department for public safety. The District also oversees the maintenance of the MIPOA roads and rights-of-way; this includes road signs, markings, and traffic control.
